IRELAND’S bill for exceeding its milk quota in the 2007/2008 marketing year has been calculated at €11.2 million.

At 5,434,095 tonnes dairy deliveries were 0.7% over quota, according to a provisional calculation by the European Commission, based on member states’ annual declarations.

Actual deliveries were only 5,231,082 tonnes, but were adjusted upward because the 2007/2008 fat content of 3.8% was higher than the 3.58% on which Ireland’s 5,393,926 tonnes milk quota is based.
