AN increase in the supply of cattle to beef factories has delivered the usual response of lower prices from processors.

Quoted prices have dropped by as much as 8 cents/kg (3p/lb) for steers, while quotes for heifers are down by as much as 11 cents/kg (4p/lb).

Although the upward trend in the supply of cattle has eased, demand for prime beef cuts has weakened on export markets.
