IFA’s Padraig Walshe said the proposals would reduce farm income in Ireland by as much as €100 million per year, and transfer CAP payments away from the poorer regions, and from full time farmers to hobby farmers. He welcomed proposals to phase out milk quotas.

ICMSA’s Jackie Cahill was particularly concerned that the EU is abandoning supply management, which would impact immediately in terms of farm incomes and food security.
