Processors restore 100p/lb R price

FARMER resistance and strong demand for cattle, have overturned price cuts by beef processors.

Processors restore 100p/lb R price

The supply of steers to factories was reduced by 4,500 head last week, having fallen 1,800 head the previous week, continuing a three week decline in intake by factories, leaving processors with little choice but to restore their base price for R grade to 280 cents/kg (100p/lb).

Farmers were aided by excellent weather and grass availability which eased the pressure on them to sell cattle.
