Sorghum may fill the grain gap

THE US Grains Council will send a nutritionist and a feed mill expert to hold a series of workshops across the EU in January to help the livestock industry use sorghum as a feed grain.

Chris Corry, the council’s senior director of international operations, said, “Our goal here is to capitalise on this opportunity to make Europe a consistent buyer of sorghum beyond this crisis situation.”

The EU feed grains shortage is worse than he expected. “They have a real big problem over here with grain supplies. We are hearing Europe will need 17 to 18 million tonnes of feed grains next year.”
