The commitment of the army of volunteers who devote weeks of their time to planning and running the country’s largest annual agricultural event is unique.

Almost exclusively farmers, they travel from the four corners of the country every year. They are almost entirely the older generation of farmers, and their association with the National Ploughing Association and the championships goes back half a century or more.
