Farm households spend less

HOUSEHOLDS in urban areas spent €820.81 per week, rural households spent €735.35, and farm households spent €685.16, according to the CSO’s 2004/2005 household budget survey.

Farm households spend less

Rural households (particularly farm households) were larger, and relied more on private transport than their urban counterparts.

A greater proportion of urban dwellings were rented (24.3%) in comparison to rural dwellings (7%). In addition, rents were higher, on average, in urban areas.
