Farm income on the slide

DECLINING income from farming has been confirmed by the CSO’s 2004-2005 Household Budget Survey. Compared with the same survey five years previously, the contribution of farming activity to income in the average farm household declined from 44% to just over 38%.

The proportion of direct income attributable to non-farm activities was up from 48% to over 53%.
