Greens a major challenge for Coughlan and farmers

THE re-appointment of Donegal TD Mary Coughlan as Minister for Agriculture, with the added responsibility for Fisheries, has been generally welcomed by farmers.

We congratulate her and wish her well for the coming years of this Government.

During her short tenure in this ministry in the last Government, her understanding of farming issues, her willingness to listen, and remedy the problems of the industry as much as was reasonably possible, were widely recognised. Farmers identified with her no-nonsense, commonsense approach to the administration of her ministry.
