Another week, 20c off prices

THE disappointing downturn in lamb prices has continued.

Another week, 20c off prices

On Monday, prices were as much as 20 cents/kg (7p/lb) behind last week, with factories in unison across the country, offering a base price of 400 cents/kg (143p/lb). The usual quality bonus of 6 cent/kg (2p/lb) applied.

Poor demand in France, where strong competition came from UK exporters, was blamed for the price trend. However, recovering new season lamb prices in the UK held out some hope.
