IFA identifies election issues for farmers

NITRATES and cross-compliance inspections are the big election issues for farmers, according to IFA leader Padraig Walshe.

He has urged farmers to challenge politicians on these issues at every opportunity in the run-up to the general election.

Most farmers have to answer 800 to 900 questions for inspections reports — it’s a draconian regime put in place by department officials to cover themselves, said Mr Walshe.
