FARMERS are unhappy to dip into their co-ops to subsidise milk prices at a time of firm dairy product markets in Europe.

The Irish Farmers Association says there is a very clear case for milk price increases to be passed on to enable farmers reap more of the benefits of buoyant markets.

They see “no excuse for continued caution on milk prices”, against a background of low to zero EU commodity stocks, and world dairy product shortages and high prices.
