Winter cereal crops up despite some damage during wet winter

WINTER wheat, barley and oats acreages have increased 20% from their low 2006 level, according to Teagasc.

Most crops have satisfactory plant and tiller counts, but some losses due to water logging are reported.

Attention to fertilisers and trace elements, weeds and plant growth regulators will be essential in the coming weeks.
