Very little change in lamb prices
Quoted base prices opened this week at 347 and back to 344 cents/kg (124 or 123p/lb), having recovered up to 3 cents/kg (1p/lb) of slippage which occurred late last week. Farmers are negotiating above quoted prices in direct deals with factories, with some unconfirmed reports of up to 14 cents/kg extra where supply was tight, and farmers adopted a hard sell attitude.
In the marts, trade was steady or improved this week, with up to €37 over being paid for lambs Monday.
