Foliage needed for €3bn bouquet market in UK

A substantial increase in the demand for wreaths, swags and container products manufactured from forestry foliage has taken place, and this is set to increase, driven by growing sales in the supermarket chains. Foliage or greenery is used as a filler in association with flowers in the formation of bouquets for supply to the supermarket chains and wholesale markets in UK and mainland Europe.

It is estimated that 25 to 30% of bouquets now consist of foliage, compared to only 5% 10 years ago. In the bouquet business, foliage adds a green, healthy image to the product.
