Beware of “free” food labelling

You needn’t worry about the chance to taste a thimbleful of the latest beverage. But beware of the GM-free, gluten-free, fat-free, sugar-free, pesticide-free labels leaping from products on every shelf.

These labels now come with a warning, at least in Ireland, where the Food Safety Authority (FSAI) has looked at GM-free claims for foods, and found that the ingredients listed for a number of these foods could not possibly have GM sources.
