Seed potato imports must be notified

AGRICULTURE and Food Minister Mary Coughlan, has made it obligatory for all importers of seed potatoes to notify her Department five days in advance of such importations.

This measure is aimed at protecting the high health status of Irish potatoes.

This year, the Department says it will be undertake a significant number of checks at potato growers’ holdings to ensure that only certified seed or home certified basic seed is planted.
