FG criticises land registry delays

AN ongoing delay in processing land registry queries is putting undue hardship on farmers, Fine Gael claimed yesterday.

Denis Naughten TD said landowners who have been served with Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPOs) or who are to receive CPOs as part of a road project cannot get compensation until all land registry documentation is in order.

Landowners in Mayo and Kilkenny have the longest average waiting time of 46 weeks, while in Co Leitrim farmers have to wait on average 42 weeks for their queries to be processed.
