A GREAT escape for dairy farmers looks on the cards, with increasing optimism that no super levy liability will arise in the current milk year.

Milk intake for processing to the end of December, 2002 was 0.5% under adjusted quota, for the first nine months of the milk year.

That outcome confirms how difficult 2002 was for producers, due to bad weather keeping dairy cows off the land for up to half of May, June and July.
