Lamb prices have been experiencing another turbulent week as markets declined in the UK and France and supplies continued strong in all sectors.

Factory prices dropped 11-14 cents/kg (4p-5p/lb) at the processors as prices slipped back to a base line of 364 cents/kg (130p/lb) for the opening of this weeks trade. Intake at the factories is currently 5% up on 2004. In the marts prices were back by up to €6/head.

In Britain the live trade at the auctions experienced a drop of €12/head and at the meat plants the prices slipped by the equivalent of up to 30 cents/kg to finish the week at the equivalent of 364 cents/kg (130p/lb).
