Pig price trails EU by 16%

PIG prices increased a further 3c/kg in Ireland this week, but still fell further behind other EU countries, such as Denmark, where prices increased by 7c/kg.

The price range here is from €1.12/kg to €1.23/kg. Export plant flat rate quotes are mostly €120 to €124 cent/kg net (bonus of 8c/kg for ‘welfare’ pigs at Glanbia).

Steady demand for pork has plants quoting €1.26 to €1.30 cent per kg. Weaners are at £32 to £34 for 32 kg in all areas.
