UP to 20,000 gallons of milk quota each is being allocated to dairy farmers hit by the introduction of quotas in 1981.

Qualifying farmers must have lost 10% or more of their herds due to animal disease between 1978 and 1980, or were in Farm Modernisation or Reduced Interest Scheme Development Plans which expired after December 31, 1983.

Almost 6,500 applications were received for the 7.1 million gallons available, and about 1,700 were successful.
