Dairygold restructuring 'fully planned'

THE restructuring of Dairygold's four milk processing sites, expected to incur further job losses in the co-op, is fully planned, but the details have yet to be announced.

Chief executive Jerry Henchy has informed staff in a letter that the final significant restructuring required is in the co-op's dairy division, which has processing plants in Mitchelstown (2), Mallow (1) and Mogeely (1).

He said two very different options are open to Dairygold. Both involve a reduction in the number of sites it operates. One strategy sees it staying predominately focused on commodities and contract manufacture outside of peak supply periods.
