AN increase of 30% in sales of prepared consumer foods to a level of €3.42bn over the next three years is one of the key aims of a new development strategy.

Food Minister Noel Treacy, who launched the strategy at Enterprise Ireland in Dublin yesterday, said the strategy was aimed at increasing competitiveness and innovation and developing new markets.

He said the strategy was prepared on behalf of the Irish Prepared Consumer Foods Group (PCFG), an advisory body established in 1992, to advise on the development of the sector.
