Action plan rejection blamed on government officials
"We know that the Brosnan proposals for dealing with the Nitrate Directive were acceptable in Brussels, but then there was a change of mind and we believe that was the result of interference by an Irish Government official", Mr Dillon told farmers at a meeting in Co Limerick.
As the deadline looms for Ireland to re-submit an action plan, the IFA president fired a warning shot across the bows of the Government: "We will have a serious problem supporting the EU Constitutional Referendum if we don't get a solution out of this and you all know that is coming up before the end of the year."
