Plenty of over 30 months animals

Processors are expecting a strong supply of over age cattle for the next three weeks at least, believing that many producers have been holding back because of the good weather while stock continued to put on weight and prices were recovering from the valley of the season.

Up to 238 cents/kg (85p/lb) was quoted in the south and the midlands this week for under 30 months R grade animals and a little more was secured for nice lots where processors were under pressure to get sufficient of the young animals. The O grade animal are being quoted at 224-221 cents/kg (81p-80p/lb).
