Co-op board gets rebuke
The implications of the vote were being assessed last night amid speculation about the position of the 10-man board. However, a spokesman for the co-op said the outcome does not dismiss or replace the board but is more of a rebuke. Any future elections would be undertaken within the society's electoral system.
The outcome followed shareholder criticisms of the co-op regarding milk price, store closures and processing costs. Another motion calling for a review of store closures was defeated. A proposal for the updating of the rules and regulations under which the co-op operates was approved.
