Britain: Some 250,000 tonnes of Irish beef will be consumed in British homes and foodservice outlets in 2004, according to Bord Bia chief executive Aidan Cotter.

He said Bord Bia research shows the British consumer remains confident in beef as a core part of their weekly diet. Some 73% of consumers surveyed have purchased beef in the last six months and just under half eat beef once or more than once a week.

Food Minister Brendan Smith launched Bord Bia’s autumn Irish beef promotion continuing in British multiple retail stores until October 31. It involves a fix-a-form promotional label on 3.7 million packs of Irish beef.
