Minister Mary Coughlan told Fine Gael TD Paul McGrath that Teagasc has an ongoing programme of research, investigating the potential risks and benefits associated with growing GM crops in Ireland including, inter alia, the economic implications.

Research completed to date indicated that cultivation of certain crops may provide a financial incentive to the individual Irish farmer.
