Spring lamb prices ‘set to climb’

Scarce supplies of Spring lamb will drive prices paid to farmers above last year’s levels, according to IFA sheep committee chairman Lawrence Fallon.

He said the prospects for Irish lamb prices in 2004 are very good with strong French market demand and tighter domestic supplies.

Mr Fallon said Bord Bia is predicting 50,000 less lambs to be born in 2004.
