UK beef import fears recede

FEARS of 125,000 tonnes per year of UK beef making an early return to the EU market have receded.

It is more than likely to be well into 2005 before this beef becomes available, said Bord Bia sources last week.

UK cattle aged over 30 months have been banned from the food chain since 1996.
