THE IFA is to seek an urgent meeting with Dairygold chairman John Walsh and chief executive officer Jerry Henchy following what it described as outrage among growers over the co-op’s interim grain prices.

Grain committee chairman Paddy Harrington said Dairygold’s interim price for green wheat is 32 to 34/t below today’s price for dried grain and in no way reflects market reality.

Major buyers are passing costs, due to inefficiencies, on to farmers in the form of reduced grain prices.
