A DECREASE of 0.6 days in the Calving Interval for heifers and cows born since 2002 is being interpreted as the first indication that sire and dam selection based on EBI is starting to correct the infertility problem in dairy herds.

Similar trends are apparent for Survival in the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation’s cattle breeding statistics report for 2003.

ICBF figures also show butterfat content reducing nationally from 3.71% to 3.67%.
