Fischler’s review shaky as new states stretch finances

EUROPEAN Parliamentarians have supported the main proposals of Franz Fischler’s mid-term review of the Common Agricultural Policy.

No review is likely before 2006, following the European Council’s freezing of CAP spending from 2007.

However, that does not rule out an early agreement on mid-term review measures to be applied at a later stage.
