Aid towards milk quota purchases suggested

FINANCIAL assistance towards milk quota purchases by dairy farmers has been suggested by Dairygold Co-op chief executive Jerry Henchy.
Aid towards milk quota purchases suggested

“We have, as a co-op, a social and a moral responsibility to do all we can to assist our suppliers and shareholders in whatever way we can, whether that is smoothing their exit from the business and making it as painless as possible, or assisting them in expanding and developing best on-farm practices to become more efficient producers going forward”, he said.

“Any quota-restructuring scheme should be geared towards ensuring the most efficient and progressive dairy farmers have greatest access to quota, as it becomes available. We must work together, the industry, the farming organisations, and the Government, to ensure that each dairy farmer gets the best possible advice on their options before making any decisions.”
