Nitrates grants package not yet agreed

PERMISSION to make grants available of up to 70% of the cost of complying with the new Nitrates Regulations is being sought in negotiations with the European Commission.

“I am working to get Commission approval for the scheme so that it can be introduced quickly”, said Agriculture Minister Mary Coughlan.

The revised Farm Waste Management Scheme would offer a standard 60% grant rate in place of the current 40%, with 70% available in Donegal, Leitrim, Cavan and Monaghan.
