Weanling trade boosts live exports
Weekly exports of weanlings are continuing at around 4,000 head which has pushed exports for the year to date to almost 60,000 head compared to 21,000 head for the same period in 2004, as the export trade for Irish weanlings continue to recover in the aftermath of the drop in trade in recent years.
Exports of calves are also showing a substantial increase. For the year to date over 57,000 head have been exported, an increase of 22,000 head on the same period last year.
