Ahern angers farmers over refusal to change Budget

TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern made it clear yesterday that there will no roll-back on measures in the Book of Estimates and the Budget, which infuriated farmers already concerned about their falling incomes.

He told reporters on arrival at the IFA annual general meeting in Dublin that Budget decisions held and that had always been the case.

"But there are mechanisms that are being talked about and which we are trying to assist on," he said, stressing, however, that Budget decisions have to be implemented.
