22,700 fewer pigs per week

PIG prices generally gained 4c/kg this week. IFA said prices ranged from 134 to 140 cent/kg, but spot prices of 141 and 142 cent were being paid, attributed to the 22,700 weekly slump in supply compared to last year.

Export plants mostly quote 134 cent to 138 cent net flat rate, with 6c extra for welfare pigs. The pork slaughtering price range is 138 to 140 cent. Weaner prices were at €42 to €44 for 32kg. The sow trade is at €28 to €30/cwt.
