Walsh reveals €2.8bn agri-budget

The estimated total public expenditure on agriculture in 2003 is €2.8 billion, Agriculture and Food Minister Joe Walsh revealed yesterday.

It is made up of a gross estimate of €1.25 billion and €1.6 billion in EU funds administered by his department.

Minister Walsh said the main priorities in the 2003 estimates are protection of human and animal health, implementation of the National Development Plan in the CAP rural development measures and research and development of agriculture and food.
