THE downward slide in beef prices halted at the factories this week, as the flow of cattle to the plants eased back.

Prices for this week are unchanged at most of the factories, with a base price of 241 cents/kg (86p/lb) being paid in the new pricing structure based on the R4L grade.

This means that the O4 cattle are making 229 cents/kg (82p/lb), and 6 cents/kg (2p/lb) is added to prices for fat score 3 in each category.
