Lamb prices ease at factories

Marts: Lamb prices eased back slightly at some of the factories when they reopened after the holiday weekend to resume slaughtering yesterday.
Lamb prices ease at factories

Base line prices ranged 406-400 cents/kg (145p-143p/lb) following a downward adjustment of between 3 cents/kg and 6 cents/kg (1p-2p/lb) adding to a difficult season for producers who have been hit by a 10% drop in average price.

Supplies continue to hover around the same as the corresponding weeks last year at over 60,000 head of lambs per week going through the factories. There is very little British lamb going on to the French market with most of the British production taken up on the home market.
