‘Bed & Breakfast’ cattle at risk

FARMERS were yesterday advised of the significant disease risks associated with the mixing of cattle from different sources in housing sheds known as “Bed and Breakfasts“.

Minister of State John Browne urged farmers using the facilities and the operators to take every precaution to minimise risks to their stock and to their own livelihood.

Where possible, cattle from one farm of origin should be kept separate from cattle from others to minimise the risk of disease transmission.
