Although many of the Reform details remain unclear as 2004 dawns, and the full implications for Irish farmers will not become known for months or maybe years, it is certain that major changes are on the way for those who get a living from agriculture.

The pace of change in farming has been quickening over the past 30 years of EU membership, but the next five years could see more changes than the past 25 years.
