FOR the second successive week, there were no cases of BSE confirmed in the national cattle herd.

The Department of Agriculture and Food confirmed this yesterday as the predicted down-ward trend in outbreaks of the disease continued.

Total cases so far in 2005 remain at 33, compared with 68 in 2004, 102 in 2003 and 176 in 2002.
