It’s not new, but when delivered by the boss of Dairygold, a group under severe pressure to deal with the realities of the dairy market, it gives the case being argued about the dairy sector an urgency it previously lacked.

In essence, the message Mr Henchy has communicated effectively to Dairygold shareholders is that farm prices will be levelled by the ending of EU and US subsidies and open competition will separate the winners from the losers when the markets have been freed up.
