ANY increase in beef prices achieved by farmers this week has been marginal, as the trade stabilised at recent levels, steadied by a regular flow of cattle into the factories.

There has been an easing of the trade in Britain, with uncertainty as to the impact which the ending of their Over Thirty Minutes scheme will have on the supply of cattle.

Here, most of the cattle killed during the opening days of this week were pre-purchased at last week's prices, and probably cost the processors a shade more than they would have made this week, when a tighter policy was adopted on pricing, with the possibility of a squeeze on prices if the trade continued to weaken.
