GARDENING is good for people, it was argued at Bord Bia’s first conference for the industry in Dublin yesterday.

Delegates were told that American research findings show a connection between plants and social, environmental and mental health, and that this can be used as a basis for promoting plants and gardening.

One research study indicated that the actual selling price of a home with “excellent” landscaping (as rated by a landscape professional) was 12% to 15% higher than one with “fair” or “poor” landscaping.
