Tremendous crop progress but disease threat remains

JUNE has been good for tillage farmers, with Teagasc reporting “tremendous” maize and sugar beet growth.

However, wet weather diseases remain a threat in cereals, notably rhynchosporium and septoria.

Rhynchosporium is widespread on spring barley crops and is reappearing on winter barley.
