Better prices liven up mart trade

Prices are stronger by as much as 9 cents/kg (3p/lb) with a uniform base factory price of 325 cents/kg (116p/lb) becoming established for Tuesday’s kill, following an improved trade for lamb in France over the past week.

The increased price should lead to a stronger supply, with the weekly kill running as much as 12% behind the same time last year. At the mart sales this week, there was more life in the trade, with prices showing an improvement of up to €2/head on Monday.
